The iPhone 12 has been officially announced and is one among a series of 4 new iPhones that feature an equivalent numerical value, and are competing for space in your pocket. But if you are looking for a new phone from Apple, you better ignore the iPhone 12 and its siblings altogether and go for the 2019 iPhone 11 instead.
While the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max were discontinued thanks to the arrival of the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, Apple deemed the iPhone 11 worth at least another year in its stores.
This indicates Apple believes it still has something to offer and I am inclined to agree. This is why iPhone 11 might be your best buy than the new iPhone 12.
Save yourself some money
Starting easy. The iPhone 11 is cheaper than the iPhone 12 deals: “Hey John, I really worked it out,” you’re mocking. But who wouldn’t want to save money?
Yes, it’s an obvious fact, but it’s still noteworthy. IPhone 11 has dropped in price with the arrival of the iPhone 12, and the base 64GB model will now cost you $ 599 / £ 599 / AU $ 999.
This is not only cheaper than the iPhone 12 at $ 200 / £ 200, but also but the new iPhone 12 mini. And if you need more storage, Apple has also lowered the price of 11 phone variants. 128GB and 256GB.
iPhone 12 with a new look! Something like. Remember 2010 and the launch of the iPhone 4, and suddenly the iPhone 12 looks a lot less modern and more … well, old.
Well, Apple has improved itself a bit over the course of the decade, and the iPhone 12 features thin bezels and extremely tough “ Ceramic Shield ” glass, just to name a few improvements.
I support it all, but my problem is the flat sides of yesterday.
There is a good reason you’ll struggle to find another smartphone that chooses this angular design (Razer phones come to mind): convenience. Phones with flat sides and angled edges appear thicker in the hand and are generally less comfortable to hold for long periods.
I spoke to OnePlus about the recently launched Nord phone and they showed me a prototype of what the device might look like, and it was mainly the iPhone 12. However, the company did not adhere to that design because it found a more rounded finish. Most suitable consumers.
Now I haven’t had a chance to stick to the iPhone 12 yet, so Apple may have done some magic tricks to improve comfort, but I’m skeptical. However, the iPhone 11 is charming and rounder. There are no problems here.
Beware of the craze of 5G networks
5G is here! No, it really is. Quite frankly. It is fast. In fact, super fast. Please believe us. It is the future but also the present. Operators and manufacturers love to remind us just how amazing 5G technology is, and the iPhone 12 launch was no different with a section dedicated to telling us just how great it is right now.
But these same folks have been complaining about it for what seems like forever, but I still can’t get 5G reception where I live. Block next wisdom: Don’t be fooled by the 5G network.
If you are thinking of the iPhone 12 just because it supports 5G, stop by. Stay away from the Apple Store.
Don’t get me wrong, I totally support 5G. The capabilities it will be able to provide in the future are fantastically exciting, but it is the “future” part that matters.
Sure, that means the iPhone 12 is now well ready for the future, but when it comes to 5G, you might wait a while. Availability of 5G networks in most countries is still very scarce, and while operators are constantly working to improve the deployment of their next generation networks, this depends largely on where you live.
There is a chance that you won’t get a 5G connection where you live for the next year. The wait could be longer.
So let’s get back to my point. Check 5G coverage in your area. If it’s not there and you plan to upgrade again in the next 18-24 months, you can save some money with iPhone 11 4G.

Update, update, update
Although the iPhone 11 may not have 5G capabilities, it won’t be out of date anytime soon. Apple’s annual iOS updates are a great thing, especially if you are familiar with Android updates.
The updates hit all compatible phones at the same time, and this compatibility goes back further than you might think.
Apple’s latest major software update, iOS 14, supports all phones dating back to, including, the 2015 iPhone 6S.
With that in mind, the iPhone 11 has had a few years of iOS updates before it, ensuring it stays secure, while still receiving new features as the years go by. That means you don’t have to rush into an iPhone 12 if you are concerned about longevity.
Like blue cheese, the iPhone 11 will improve with age (although hopefully it doesn’t smell bad).
But the iPhone 12 is really better than the iPhone 11
Yes, yes, don’t worry. I know. IPhone 12 is a better device than the 11th.
Apple made several improvements including improved cameras, energy efficiency and durability, more power, graphics and pixel performance, support for MagSafe and 5G, improved video recording and night modes.
On paper at least, the iPhone 12 appears to be a clever device – but is it the one for you? You might find that the iPhone 11 will do all the items you would like from a smartphone, and in some cases it’d offer you a far better experience.
It’s easy to be tempted by the shiny new technology, and the new iPhone 12 will be a good fit for some of you – just make sure you really think about your requirements before giving up your money.
